The benefits of therapeutic products in massage therapy

What exactly are rubefacients, essential oils used for during the sessions? Or have you ever heard of moxibustion and peat mud poultices?

  • Rubefacient (therapeutic ointment) : Hyperaemia and increased skin temperature appear. This allows for increased nutrient delivery and faster release of the area to be worked on.

Relieves muscle and joint pain associated with back pain, lumbago, strains, bruises, sprains, strains, arthritic and rheumatic pain, tendon and ligament pain. Not bad my darling ^^

  • Essential oils: Natural yes….but very powerful! The list would be too long to detail each of them! That said, let's focus on marjoram or even red thyme that I use a lot in the session.

Indeed, thanks to its myorelaxant and analgesic properties, marjoram essential oil can relieve osteoarthritis, arthritis, cramps, muscle contractures, lumbago, rheumatism and sciatica. Great calming of the central nervous system, it is one of my favorites both for its smell and for its many benefits!

As for the essential oil of red thyme, recognized for its “pain-relieving balm” action, very useful in cases of inflammation such as tendinitis, bursitis and capsulitis.

  • moxibustion: Ancient technique, stemming from Chinese medicine, of stimulation by heat coming from the equivalent of an incense stick, which is approached to the surface of the skin. Moxa is a composition based onwormwood dried and crushed.

It is a powerful anti-inflammatory especially for the tendinous regions.

From a more psycho-energetic point of view, moxa dissolves blockages, frees energy flows, tones and restores the balance between Yin and Yang.

  • Mud poultice: Detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, calming and soothing, remineralizing, cell regenerator, peat mud is very rich in humic and fulvic acids.

Humic substances influence spontaneous muscle contractions and are responsible for vasodilation; And thus promotes the drainage of the body of toxic substances responsible for inflammatory states.

Humic and fulvic acids are powerful preservatives (anti-oxidants) and regenerators, especially for muscles, bones and nerves.

Canada is also one of the best producers in the world of quality peat mud!
