Californien Massage
'' A proud descendant of Swedish massage, Californian massage has maintained a number of its strokes: percussive movements, kneading and rotating friction which oxygenate and relieve deep tension, and effleurage or gliding pressure which improves circulation and the flow of liquids.
This technique is distinguished mainly by the gentleness of the strokes and the originality and fluidity of the movement sequence.
The gentleness of Californian massage is not about lightness but more about the intention of the giver with respect to the recipient. With flexible hands and proper use of body weight and breathing, the therapist invites the client to let go, release the muscles and open herself or himself to sensory discovery. Strokes of varying rhythms and depth are employed directly on the skin, with the application of oil. Based on a series of defined strokes, Californian massage is known for its long enveloping and fluid movements. Given in a spirit of profound respect for the integrity of the individual, it leaves a wide margin for creativity and a personalized approach. Although passive, the person receiving a Californian massage is taking part in the art of self-awareness. ''
